Green Tea Goodness
One of the first things I do every morning, is make myself a hot cup of green tea with a touch of honey. This isn’t only getting me moving in the morning from the caffeine intake, but my body benefits from the healthy compounds that’s contained in it.
I was aware green tea was healthy for you, but it wasn’t until recently I learned about all the advantages. Most people know it’s a natural antioxidant that cleanses the body. This antioxidant is called Epigallocatechin Gallate and has been known to treat various diseases. This is why green tea is used in a variety of medicines.
Other than medicines, you’ll find green tea is in thousands of products. It’s known to be in fat burning products, since studies have shown it can boost your metabolic rate. With this in mind you can see how a hand full of energy drinks has green tea in them as well.
It’s incredible what you gain physically and mentally from just drinking a glass a day of this leaf from a Camellia shrub. If you add a little honey for a natural sweetener, it’s the healthiest beverage you can consume.
Back to some of the medical benefits. Along with the Epigallocatechin Gallate antioxidant I mentioned earlier and catechin compounds green tea has, it can help reduce Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and cardiovascular diseases. One study has shown it can reduce the risk of prostate cancer by 49%, which is the most common type of cancer for men. It can also reduce the risk of type II Diabetes, since studies have shown it can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels.
By drinking any type of green tea you’re going to benefit no matter what, but if you choose a higher quality brand you’ll reduce the levels of fluoride found in lower quality brands. Some will also have artificial flavoring which is a controversial subject of health related disadvantages. Restorativenature.com has a wide variety of tea blends and some accessories for preparing your tea.
Just remember, a glass a day can have a huge impact on your overall health and mental state. Live long and prosperous with less visits to doctors’ offices so you can live a little longer to be with the one’s you love.
